T-Minus 9 Days

We're moving to Lincoln, NE, in just nine days.  We're cleaning out and packing up as much as possible, while still trying to squeeze in all the last-minute St. Louis things we want to do.

My hope is that I'll get back into recording our story more.  I'd even like for the kids to post a few stories of their own.

For now, we keep packing.  We give hugs and say goodbye to everyone we pass, not expecting to see them again.  But sometimes we do.  We've amazingly run into people lately whom we haven't seen in a year or more.  Very sweet!

Jim and Lilla and our niece Madeline just left this morning.  I'm still working in the mornings at the school, so they packed and helped with the kids during that time.  We'd play a little in the afternoons, working on the side, and in the evenings we'd be busy at the city pool, a swim meet or a Cards game.  We ate at Smashburger and Dewey's and Bandanas, and they took the kids to Ted Drewes.  It's hard work working so hard and having so much fun.

Brian has been slipping away as much as possible to study for his licensure exam, which will be early next month.  He has some awesome flash cards he uses on his phone to learn the catechism, and I've loved hearing him tell what he's been learning about.  It feels so good to hear him excited about the material he's (re)learning, such a reminder that he was made for this!

Me?  Well, I'm tired to the bone.  I'm training my replacement at work, packing, and meeting friends as much as possible.  We don't have a firm move date, which is par for the course as far as this story goes.  I'm still learning to work without a solid plan in place, not being frozen until I have certainty but moving in faith.

That makes me think of a book I've been reading lately:  Anne Lamott's Traveling Mercies.  I'll have to put up the quote another time.
